Where we eat, where we send our guests, and why we keep going back.

Real Recommendations from People Who Actually Live Here
One of the first things guests ask when they arrive at Mockingbird Mountain is,
“Where should we eat around here?”
We love that question — because we’ve lived here, we’ve tried everything, and we’re happy to share where we actually eat. These aren’t trendy tourist stops or national chains. These are local favorites that have earned our repeat business — and more importantly, our guests’ glowing reviews.
Every restaurant on this list is within easy reach of Greers Ferry Lake, Heber Springs, Greers Ferry, Edgemont, or Fairfield Bay. Whether you’re staying in one of our cabins or living full-time in your RV, you’ll find something here worth the drive (and then some).
🍽️ Janssen’s Lakefront Restaurant – Eden Isle / Heber Springs
Type: Upscale Casual | Distance: ~25 minutes from Mockingbird Mountain
Janssen’s is what we recommend when guests want something special. It’s tucked away on Eden Isle, with a lakefront view that makes dinner feel like a mini-vacation. The interior is cozy, the service is consistently great, and the food is genuinely memorable.
The menu leans toward Southern classics with an elevated touch — seafood, steaks, pasta, and a trout dish that locals rave about. It’s not formal, but it’s definitely a notch above casual.
Why we love it:
It’s peaceful, scenic, and the kind of place where time slows down. We go here when we want to celebrate — or when we just want a quiet dinner with a great view.
🍖 Cafe Klaser – Heber Springs

Type: Southern, Burgers, BBQ | Distance: ~25 minutes
Cafe Klaser sits right on the Little Red River, and it’s exactly what you want after a day outdoors. The food is hearty and comforting — think catfish, BBQ pork, burgers, and fried green tomatoes.
The setting is casual, but the portions are generous and the flavor is always on point. Sit out on the patio if the weather’s nice — the river view adds something special to even a simple lunch.
Why we love it:
It’s dependable. We’ve never had a bad meal here. Plus, the river view at sunset? Underrated. It’s the perfect post-hike or post-fishing stop.
🍕 Latture’s on the Lake – Greers Ferry

Type: Pizza, Wings, Salads | Distance: ~15 minutes
Sometimes you just want pizza — and Latture’s nails it. This family-owned pizzeria has become our go-to for group dinners, casual nights, or when we don’t feel like cooking.
They offer thick, crispy crusts, fresh toppings, and some fun specialty pizzas (try the buffalo chicken or the BBQ pork). The wings and cheesy bread are also crowd-pleasers.
Why we love it:
It’s quick, consistent, and affordable. Everyone finds something they like — and it’s only 15 minutes from the park. We often recommend this for arrival night meals when guests are settling in.
🌯 Junkyard Dog – Heber Springs

Type: Tex-Mex, Burgers, Wraps | Distance: ~20 minutes
Don’t let the name fool you — this place is a hidden gem. Junkyard Dog offers a fun, slightly funky menu with everything from tacos to wraps to overstuffed baked potatoes. It’s casual and great for lunch, but also solid for early dinners.
Their BBQ nachos are massive and loaded with pulled pork, cheese, and house sauces. The green chili burrito is another favorite — flavorful with just enough kick.
Why we love it:
It’s fast, it’s flavorful, and it’s fun. We’ve had guests go back here multiple times during a single stay. Great for takeout too if you want to eat back at the cabin.
🍳 Arrow’s Cafe and BBQ – Greers Ferry

Type: Breakfast, Diner, BBQ | Distance: ~10 minutes
Arrow’s is our breakfast spot of choice. It’s got that small-town diner feel where the coffee is hot, the biscuits are buttery, and the portions are exactly what you want before a long day on the lake or trail.
But they also serve excellent BBQ — so don’t overlook it for lunch or dinner. Their smoked meats (especially the brisket) are local favorites.
Why we love it:
It’s authentic and down-to-earth. We love sending guests here for a real taste of Arkansas hospitality. Go early, and you’ll eat with locals who know each other by name.
🧺 Prefer to Eat Outside? Pack a Picnic
Some nights, nothing beats food and a view. Grab groceries from the Walmart in Heber Springs or Kirk’s Grocery in Greers Ferry, make your favorite sandwiches, and take them to one of our favorite picnic spots:
Let nature be your dining room — and you won’t miss table service at all.
